Do you have a kid diagnosed with adhd? It is a constant struggle to keep them on task. They get distracted so easily. The simplest things can distract them and it's not necessarily their fault. Anyone out there willing to share some of the things that seem to work best for them?

It amazes me at how creative they can be. They are very intelligent. The key is to get them to put all that energy into good use.

It is important that you find the right medication and dosage for a child with this diagnosis. Some medicines just seem to make them more like a zombie, especially when the dosage is off. Some kids try to refuse to take them because they don't like how it makes them feel. They need to understand that with the right medication they won't feel that way.

One of the keys to helping a child with ADHD is structure. If you keep their minds occupied and interested there's no limit to what they can accomplish. This means having a set routine. This will keep them occupied and the surprise element will not be there to discourage or frustrate them.

I read an article the other day that talked about getting hyper children to get their work done without such a struggle. It said to let them have a little physical activity prior to tackling homework. It said it will get their excess energy burned off and will help them to concentrate better. I would love to have some feedback for those who try it.
